The technicians at blog-mobile.fr offer you this tutorial to explain how to replace the screen of your iPhone 4 yourself in complete safety. To do this, you will need an iPhone 4 display, a cross-head screwdriver, a SIM card extractor and a plastic spatula.

Remove the rear window

For security reasons and before changing the display of your iPhone 4, make sure that your iPhone is turned off. Remove the 2 crosshead screws located on either side of the charging connector. Slide the rear window upwards to disengage it. You can now remove the rear window of your iPhone 4.

Removing the motherboard

Remove the screw that holds the battery connector to the motherboard. Use a plastic spatula to disconnect the battery cover. Gently pull the plastic tab to remove the iPhone 4 battery from the chassis. Insert an extraction tool into the small hole to dislodge the iPhone 4 SIM card reader. Unscrew the 2 screws that hold the metal plate of the charging connector with a Phillips screwdriver. Reuse your plastic spatula to lift the load connector from the motherboard. Disconnect the coaxial cable from the antenna using your plastic spatula. Unscrew the crosshead screw that holds the motherboard to the chassis. Unscrew the 5 crosshead screws that hold the connector cover in place. Disconnect the tablecloth from the camera and then use a small pair of pliers to remove it from its location. Disconnect the following tablecloths from the motherboard: touchscreen tablecloth, LCD screen tablecloth, jack plug and volume knobs tablecloth, microphone tablecloth and mute knob and front camera tablecloth. Carefully lift the iPhone 4 motherboard and remove it.

Change iPhone 4 screen

Unscrew the crosshead screw used to hold the speaker. Unscrew the 2 screws that hold the vibrator in place on your iPhone 4. Unscrew the cross-head screw next to the jack plug and then remove the 3 screws located along the volume knobs. Remove the crosshead screw next to the microphone and the one next to the charging connector cover. Reuse your Phillips screwdriver to unscrew the 3 screws next to the SIM rack. Slide your plastic spatula into the gap between the contour of the front window and the frame and then gently lift the screen of your iPhone 4. Repeat the steps in our tutorial in the opposite direction to reassemble your iPhone 4.
